Ryan Ashton

Mr. Ashton has extensive experience in driving successful marketing, sales, IPO and M&A strategies for advanced-technology companies. His experience includes serving as a senior vice president, sales and marketing at Megahertz—a publicly-held company with annual sales in excess of $150 Million; as a senior officer at Inari, a pre-IPO technology start-up; and as CEO of Printelligent Corporation.
Mr. Ashton has a proven track record in successfully managing diverse teams of personnel—scientists, marketing, sales and administrative resources—in high-growth technology companies.
Robert D. Jenison
— Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Jenison joined Great Basin Scientific from BioStar, an Inverness Medical Innovations Inc. company (formerly Thermo Electron), where he served as associate director of Research and Development. At BioStar, Mr. Jenison directed a team in developing rapid nucleic acid diagnostic assays, created and then executed the go-to-market strategy for the platform. During his tenure, Mr. Jenison was nominated for the Thermo Electron Life and Laboratory sector's Innovation Award for development of the CF genotyping test. Mr. Jenison has been awarded four patents based on his work with nucleic acid ligands and arrayed elements; furthermore his work has been published in numerous scientific
journals. Mr. Jenison holds a bachelors degree in Chemistry from Revelle College, University of California at San Diego.
Jeffrey P. Selander
— Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Selander joined Great Basin Scientific after serving more than seven years as director of strategic planning for iBAHN where he led all corporate finance activities—including M&A transactions, fundraising efforts, and corporate forecasting processes. During his tenure, Mr. Selander drove the analysis and due diligence process in raising $135 million in equity and debt financing for iBAHN during a period of corporate growth where EBITDA grew from $200 thousand to $15 million in three years.
Mr. Selander holds a bachelors degree in International Relations from Brigham Young University and a masters of Business Administration from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College, Boston, Mass.
David Ward, PhD

During his distinguished 34-year career as a professor at Yale University School of Medicine’s Departments of Genetics, Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry, Dr. Ward built an international reputation as a leading microbiology scientist and researcher in genetic markers. Dr. Ward has founded five biotechnology companies, two of which have been taken public. Currently, Dr. Ward is the deputy director of the Nevada Cancer Institute, where he is leading research in cancer prevention and treatment, and working on grants to continue his research on the field of molecular marker identification.
Anthony R. Torres, MD

Currently at Utah State University, Dr. Torres has identified numerous markers under a grant for the United States government and for other entities, including several prestigious pharmaceutical companies. He has served as an assistant professor of laboratory medicine at Yale University, a researcher at the National Cancer Institute, and a senior scientist at Hyclone Laboratory, ZymeQuest and Utah State University. Dr. Torres served as vice president of research at Selective Cell Therapies and currently serves on the board of Convergent Bioscience
